Eco Building Services

The term eco-home is used broadly to describe any house which has been designed with sustainability or environmental concerns in mind, which is where our eco building services come in.

About our Eco Building Services

At ALCO Properties, our eco building services can range from kitting your home out with the latest renewable technology for heat and power, to building a home that has a low energy demand in the first place.

With so many factors to consider, eco homes are deemed to be a complicated endeavour, but we at ALCO Properties have been lucky enough to work on numerous projects that have been designed to have low carbon footprints, low running costs, and incorporate renewable energy where possible.

We work closely with suppliers of sustainable materials such as:

And renewable energy options from the likes of:

We are always urging clients towards more sustainable options, through our eco building services, when it comes to heating, cooling, lighting, and power. With the help of the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme for property owners – you could receive quarterly cash payments over seven years if you install an eligible renewable heating technology to become more self-sufficient.

Options we can advise on and install include:

  • Air source heat pumps – take heat from the air and use it to boost it to a higher temperature which you can use to feed your central heating, but in a much more environmentally friendly way than the conventional way of using central heating to heat your home.
  • Biomass boilers – are heating systems that will use both natural and non-natural fossil fuel resources to then create heat which can be used in your home, again a much more eco friendly way of heating your home.
  • Biomass stoves – burn logs, chips or even wood pellets which then can provide warmth to a single room in your home. It can also be used to power your central heating and also to warm your hot water boilers.
  • Wood burning stoves – can be used as a heating or a cooking appliance in your home that is capable of burning wood fuel which is often referred to as solid fuel, such as sawdust bricks.
  • Ground source heat pumps – are pumps that work by extracting natural heat from the ground and utilise it to heat radiators in your home, as well as underfloor heating systems and also heating the water.
  • Heat bank stores – store up thermal energy that is given out during the evening or night, usually when electricity costs less, and then they release heat during the day as and when it is needed to heat your home.
  • Thermal stores – are a way of storing and also managing the renewable heat until you need it to either heat your home or heat your water.
  • Solar PV – or photovoltaic cells are a nonmechanical device that can convert sunlight directly into electricity that you can then use in your home.
  • Solar thermal – is the converting of the radiant energy given out by the sun into heat that you can then use in your home, whether to heat it or to heat the water.
