Stepping Stone School, The Undershaw, Hindhead
Full refurbishment decorating contract of the existing building and new build school
About the project
We worked as subcontractor to O&D Construction who were undertaking a
massive refurbishment and new build to a special needs school in Surrey.
The building is grade 2 listed and was formerly the home of Sir Arthur Conan
Doyle and had lots of period features to be retained.
There were vast amounts of Victorian joinery to restore, plaster cornice and
moldings to strip and renovate, wallpaper to hang, floors to sand back and treat
as well as heritage walls and lime plaster ceilings to decorate.
We worked with the main contractor, architects a team of interior designers and
the listed buildings officer to carry out a sympathetic and thorough interior
design package.
The new build was of modern construction and we undertook everything from
intumescent paint to RSJ frames, acoustic ceiling panels, swimming pool area,
walls and woodwork.
