About the project
The family wanted a new entertaining space and gym and we were keen to convert a historic bothy on site at their listed property in the heart of Shamley Green, Surrey. Unfortunately, on closer inspection the existing building was not structurally sound and so we set about redesigning the project to demolish and rebuild a sympathetic new build in keeping with all the character and charm of the original building. We use Ham Hill Stone and hand made bricks to add age and character and salvaged and reclaimed materials where possible including the roof tiles and interior oak details. A mixture of period steel frame and timber casement windows was a nod to the original building with an exact replica door being bespoke made off site.
The project required a high end spec and has seen the use of some top end finishes throughout from the air dried oak, gold leaf glass tiles to the copper bar top and carbon fibre hammer head shark sculpture installation!
